Sherlock Holmes Semiotics Blog Post #2

Sherlock Holmes Semiotics Analysis

After watching the character of Sherlock Holmes in the BBS series episode one. Everything about him can be semiotically analyzed. Semiotics is defined as the science of signs. This is what makes Sherlock Holmes even more interesting. He is a character that all his audience can point him out as not just any other regular person. He is different in so many ways and I must admit very first impression of him was that he can be socially weird, and can come across as someone who can scare you for a bit. The way he is and what grabbed my attention a lot about Sherlock Holmes was how mostly everyone else in this first episode, trying to solve the very first crime scene we were introduced to, would refer to him as a Psychopath.  He knew how to use semiotics when solving the crime in the first episode. The smallest details that everyone else ignored he noticed and analyzed each of them. For example, in the scene where the come across the fourth murder and it is just amazing how he figures out that what was said were suicides have not been suicides actually murders.
Sherlock Holmes would have everyone be quiet when he would start analyzing things and he would think and think until he found an answer. He was definitely socially awkward and has no intentions in love. The way we got introduced to him was a huge hint that he has no time for love. Sherlock Holmes comes to his conclusions very confident like he knows that he is correct and no mistake can occur. He needs audiences because geniuses need audience and he does that by having Dr. Watson with him. But, him being socially awkward like I mentioned earlier can be something that other characters notice the most.
In the scene where he is with the cabbie and he is being challenged to the point that he wants to be right and is willing to risk his live by taking that pill and that for me is like challenging his ego. Sherlock Holmes beyond words is just so unique and interesting at the same time mysterious and that is what catches the attention from audience.
